Paleoscience has a long and rich history at Illinois, beginning with our own ‘Father Deep Time’ Tom Phillips, Professor Emeritus in Plant Biology and Geology. Today, a growing number of faculty across campus are doing research with a ‘paleo’ flavor, exploring topics like past climate and environmental change, the evolution of life, and the history of human-environment interactions. We invite you to explore the faculty profiles below for more information on our exciting research. We also invite you to join us in celebration of paleoscience research at the University of Illinois: each year the Departments of Geology and Plant Biology cohost the Phillips Lecture in honor of Prof. Tom Phillips. Please visit our site dedicated to this event for more details on past and upcoming lectures.
